DISPOSABLE: LIFE ON ODSP (2024)
Disposable: Life on ODSP is a short documentary and journalism piece that centres around the poverty and struggles many people on the Ontario Disability Support Program face. As someone who grew up with two disabled sisters, disability issues have always been important to me, and making this documentary broadened my understanding of what being disabled mean in our society today. After it's completion in spring of 2024, Disposable: Life on ODSP premiered at a community screening organized by People's Voice Forum in Toronto in July 2024. Toronto Directory for Palestine featured the film and screening in their newsletter in July 2024. The film was was also screened in Sudbury as part of the ODSP Action Coalition's Raise The Rates campaign in October 2024. It premiered online ahead of the February 2025 Ontario Provincial Election and has accumulated over 3,000 views, largely by word of mouth.
